Wilma Gardner Thomas, 92, formerly of Flemingsburg, wife of the late Jack Thomas, died Saturday, February 10, 2024.
Born on March 31, 1931 in Fleming County, the only child of the late Wilburn & Eva Story Gardner, she was a 1950 graduate of Fleming County High School and an avid member of the Flemingsburg Garden Club. Wilma was a devoted member of Flemingsburg Christian Church and Carlisle Christian Church. She loved playing golf and bridge with her friends. She and Jack lived in Hazard, Kentucky from 1981-1998, where they partnered in the newspaper business. Following this, Wilma resided in Carlisle, Kentucky from 2014-2018, and then lived at Cedar Ridge Health Campus from 2018 until her passing.
Surviving are her daughter, Jan (Tommy) Crawford of Carlisle, and her son, David (Liz) Thomas of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four grandchildren: Lindsay (Adam) King of Carlisle, Cameron (Savannah) Crawford of Ewing, Kentucky, Robert (Emma) Thomas & Andrew Thomas, both of Virginia Beach; and five great-grandchildren: Ryland Lee & Jolie Mae King, Sutton Rae Crawford and Adela Jade & Cole Butler Thomas.
A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 13th at the Fleming County Cemetery Pavilion by Rev. Steve Smith & Dr. Stephen Besson.
