George Reynolds Vaughn, 89, husband of Brenda Hardin Vaughn, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.
Born February 24, 1931 in Nicholas County to the late Daniel Preston & Nancy Catherine Snapp Vaughn, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a former supervisor with the Weaver Company, worked for several years for the City of Carlisle in the waste water treatment plant and was a member of Herrington United Methodist Church. George was a proud member of VFW Post 8666 Lloyd George Post and American Legion Post 17-Carlisle; he loved watching his kids play sports, U.K. Basketball and all of the Nicholas County sports teams.
Additional survivors include 4 children: Kenneth (Connie) Vaughn, of Paris, Glenn (Morgan) Castle, of Midway, Debbie (David) Crouch, of Bourbon County, and Anthony Castle, of Louisville; 7 grandchildren: Vincent (Ann) Vaughn, Veda Vaughn Miracle, Robert (Jennifer) Crouch, Justin Dryden, Danielle (Steven) Minton, Kehla Castle (Jason Vice) and Harley (Heather) Crouch; 9 great-grandchildren: Forrest & Tori Vaughn, Mason Miracle, Austin Dryden, Hadleigh Hatton, Owen & Maggie Minton and Max & Titus Bowling; and several nieces & nephews.
Also preceding him in death were 4 brothers, Raymond, William, Dudley & Tommy Vaughn, and a sister, Anna Alley.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Bro. Jeremy Cantrell. Burial with military honors will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Monday.
