Virgie Mae Ellis Sturgeon, 84, widow of William Sturgeon, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.

She was born November 15, 1927 in Gallatin County to the late Huey & Monty Ellis, was a devoted homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Virgie is survived by a son, Charles (Debbie) Sturgeon, of Paris, a daughter, Brenda (Charlie) Fryman, of Carlisle, 3 brothers, Tommy (Joan) Ellis, of Independence, Ray Ellis and Jay Ellis, of Erlanger, 4 grandchildren- Tamara (Billy) McCarty, Savannah Fryman (Alan Gray), Natasha Sturgeon & Willie Middleton, 2 great-grandchildren- Zachary Sturgeon and Alyssa Biddle, and a dear family friend, Martha McCarty.

She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Alberta Ellis, and a brother, Arthur Ellis.

Services will be Noon Friday, March 2, 2012 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Howard Livingood with burial following in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Thursday.

Tamara McCarty Granny, I miss u already but I know that u r suffering no more.... Watch over each and every one of us every day.... May u rest in peace.
