Rosa B. Burke Ellington, 96, of Shawhan and formerly of Nicholas Co., wife of the late Paul Ellington to whom she was married for 71 years, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 6, 1916 in Nicholas Co. to the late Clarence & Etta Reid Burke, was a devoted homemaker and was a member of the Shawhan Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter Phyllis Jordan, of Shawhan, 2 sons, Paul Wayne (Lynn) Ellington & Jimmy Allen (Wanda) Ellington, both of Bourbon Co., a brother, Billy (Phyllis) Burke, of Carlisle, 8 grandchildren, Jerry Allen (Angie) Walker, Debbie Walker (Richard Howard), Barry Paul (Susan) Moreland, James Kevin (Tina) Ellington, Jamie Wayne (Beth) Ellington, Angel Ellington (Derrick Browning), Mindy Ellington & Kelli Marie (J.J.) Nichols, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, a special nephew, Raymond (Willie) Ellington, and 2 sister-in-laws, Imogene Burke & Eleanor Bramel. 

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Nellie Frances Harney & Margaret Combs, and a brother, Raymond "Pete" Burke.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 14, 2012 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Kevin Strausbaugh with burial following in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.

Ellington Family,
