Helen Jane Fisher Stamper, 58, wife of Dennis Stamper, Jr., passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at her home.

Born July 30, 1955 in Nicholas County to the late George Elmer & Helen Louise Workman Fisher, Helen was a 1973 graduate of Nicholas County High School, served on the Carlisle Planning and Zoning Board and was a member of the Irvingsville Baptist Church. She spent 18 years as a teacher’s aide and guardian angel to the children of Nicholas County Elementary School, treating each one as if they were her own. Helen greatly enjoyed the outdoors as she gardened, camped and rode in her dune-buggy. She also devoted time to decorating, collecting antiques and watching UK Basketball, but what Helen loved most of all was spending time with her family.

Also surviving are a son, Michael Williams, of Carlisle, a step-daughter, Tammy (William) Smith, of Mt. Sterling, 3 sisters, Sheila Gill, of San Antonio, Texas, Cathy Foote, of Kokomo, Indiana, and Georgia Livingood, of Carlisle, her mother-in-law, Pollie Stamper, of Carlisle, a brother-in-law, Joseph Edward (Debbie) Stamper, of Lawrenceburg, 2 sisters-in-law, Wilma (Walter) Bailey, of Powell County, and Madia (Glenn) Ball, of Lexington, and 2 granddaughters, Cheyenne & Savannah Smith, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Charlotte Poe, Sandra Lynn Fisher & Sharon Young, a brother, Larry Allen "Butch" Fisher, her father-in-law, Dennis Stamper, Sr., and 2 brothers-in-law, Dean Livingood & Jim Gill.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Carlisle Christian Church by Bro. Jimmy Caswell and Bro. Tony Smith with burial following in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Friday at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home.

Miss Helen was so full of fun and life. She was always so happy, smiling and a joy to be around. If there was ever a group of people around having fun, you could count on her being in the center of it. She was a dear soul and will be missed by everyone who knew her. My prayers for her family and friends.

Helen was an angel on earth to many of us. I will always remember her smile, her kindness and her love for everyone she met. She had to be the most caring person I have ever known. I feel very privileged to have know her and had her touch my life. I know she is in heaven and her smile is still shinning bright. May GOD comfort those left on earth, till we meet her again. Prayers for her family and friends. See you again Helen. :)

I didn't know Helen other than who she was, but everyone spoke well of her which is a fitting tribute to her legacy. My daughter Ashley adored her to no end when she spent a year in school with her. It's too bad the good ones seem to leave too soon. My condolocents to her family and all her friends.

I want to send condolences to Ms. Helen's family. Our community and Nicholas County Elementary School have lost one of our family. She was always a joy to work with at school. She loved working with all our students by teaching them the skills they would need in life. Being there for them with a smile and a pat on the back when they need one. She was a great asset to our school and community and she will be missed dearly by us all.
