Dr. Allen J. Hamon, 70, husband of Letitia Ann Midden Hamon, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. Born October 17, 1942 in Grayson, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Arthur and Harriet Allen Hamon. He was a well-known doctor, having had a family practice in Carlisle for 21 years. After his medical retirement due to surgery for a brain tumor, he spent his remaining years raising cattle, making brooms and playing his banjo. He was especially proud of his work with the Lay Witness Outreach and their Saturday morning radio program. Allen was member of the American Medical Association, the American Angus Association, was a Mason and devoted member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are his daughters, Cindy Hamon, of Carlisle, Letitia Riddell, of Huntington, WV, and Jan (John) Eggum, of Richmond, a daughter-in-law, Gina Sorci Hamon, Lafayette, LA 2 sisters, Louise (Bill) Heilig and Mary Ellen Tantillo, and a brother, Dr. Andrew (Carrie) Hamon, 5 grandchildren, Xander Riddell, Sienna Sorci Hamon, Julieann Eggum, Riley Riddell and Molly Eggum, many nieces and nephews and a special care-giver, Betsy Thomas.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Allen Hamon.

A Celebration of Life will be held 5:00 P.M. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. James Doughton and Rev. Rocky Wallace.

Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service.
