Alma Kingsolver Banta, 93, widow of Alvin Banta, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Nicholas County Hospital.

She was born November 15, 1917 in Bath County to the late Oscar A. & Emma Crockett Kingsolver, was a devoted homemaker and member of the Spears Mill Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Bob (Charlene) Banta, Carlisle, a daughter, Brenda (John) Santos, Winchester, 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Lee Banta, a sister, Dollie Mae Ford, and 2 brothers, George Crockett & Robert Kingsolver.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 3, 2011 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith with burial following in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Sunday.
