Bobby L. "Cotton" Hughes, 83, husband of the late Josephine Fryman Hughes, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.

Born December 23, 1930 in Nicholas County to the late Robert Emmanuel & Pansy Ruth Stone Hughes, he was an employee of Hoover Universal, Inc. (now Johnson Controls) for 33 years, served in the Kentucky Army National Guard, was a member of the Blue Licks Lodge F& A.M. #495 and was a devoted Christian.

Cotton is survived by a son, Gary Lewis (Evelyn) Hughes, 2 sisters, Annette (Everett) Flora & Janette Gudgell, 2 grandsons, Richard Wayne "Ricky" Hughes (Christina Herrington) & Clinton Hazelwood "Clint" (Christal) Hughes, 2 step-granddaughters, Melissa (Jonathan) Carter & Mindy (Steven) Florence, 7 great-grandchildren, Austin, Dawson, Keeli, Dalton, Dakota & Dayton Hughes and Katie Carter, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Hughes, and a sister, Anna Roberta Thomas.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Tony Smith and Bro. Jimmy Caswell. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Friday with Masonic Rites at 7:00 P.M.
