David "Elcon" Gaunce, 72, husband of Jeri Mooring Gaunce, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Born August 30, 1941 in Nicholas County, he was a plumber, a former member of the Kentucky National Guard, was a member of the Headquarters United Methodist Church and also attended Clays Mill Baptist Church.

Also surviving David are his mother, Naomi Snapp Gaunce, of Lexington; his son, Timothy Wayne Gaunce, of Florida; his beloved dog, Jack; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Gaunce, and a brother, Stevie Gaunce.

Services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Gaylord Gillispie and Rev. Brenda Routt. Burial will follow in the Saltwell Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. Sunday until the time of service.
