Maxwell Dennis McDonald, 82, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, April 11, 2013 at his home.

Born November 5, 1930, in Harrison Co., he was a son of the late Benjamin C. & Leona Whitaker McDonald. Dennis was a lifelong farmer with a deep love of the land & gardening and was a longtime softball coach.

Surviving him are 3 sons, Richard (Amy) McDonald & Chuck McDonald, of Carlisle, and Kenneth A. McDonald, 5 daughters, Shirley M. (Larry) Trussell, Joyce M. (Herb) Booth, Judy M. Purvis & Brenda (Joe) Moseman, all of Carlisle, and Sandy Edwards, of San Antonio, Texas, a brother, Buford McDonald, of Scott Co., 2 sisters, Evalyn Abnee, of Carlisle, and Dora Norvell, of Lexington, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death were 2 brothers, David & Rodney McDonald, 2 sisters, Linda Faulconer & Joredda Garrett, and a granddaughter.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home.
