William Douglas George,73, loving husband of 53 years to Linda B. Curtis George, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 10, 2015 surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS).

Born June 18, 1942 in Nicholas County to the late Harrison & Mary Bromagen George, Douglas was a devoted, lifelong farmer in the Moorefield community, who enjoyed his work to the fullest, and was a member of the Carlisle Christian Church.

Also left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Christy (Chuck) Smith; a granddaughter, Jenci (Barkley) Caswell; a grandson, William Ethan Smith and his friend, Adrienne Letcher; the joy of his life, his great-granddaughter, Whitley Bristal Caswell; two special nephews, Jamie (Cybill) George and Jason (Jenni) George, several nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.

Douglas was also preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Brooks George and Jimmie Thomas George.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church.
