Edgar "Jake" Pierson Boyd, 72, widower of Ileen Mullins Boyd, died Thursday, March 6, 2008.

He was born June 27, 1935 in Nicholas County to the late Robert L. and Irene Hall Boyd. He was a retired knitting supervisor with Jockey International, a US Army veteran, a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion and Orient Lodge #500 F&AM, as well as a member of the East Union Christian Church.

He is survived by 2 sons, Anthony (Kathy) Boyd, of Mt. Sterling, and Robert (Loretta) Boyd, of Carlisle, a brother, Marcus (Mary) Boyd, of Florence, 3 grandchildren, Krista Boyd, Sarah (Robert) Pruitt, and Marc Anthony Boyd, and 2 step-grandchildren, Lacey Brock and Zackary Brock, as well as several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Louise Sherrod.

Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 10, 2008 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. James Gaunce. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be members of the VFW and American Legion.

Visitation will be 1:00PM to 5:00PM Sunday, with Masonic services at 3:00 PM.
