George C. "G.C." Myers, Jr. 78 husband of Esther Ritchie Myers passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at Nicholas Co. Hospital.A Nicholas Co. native he was was born August 8, 1932, was a 1950 graduate of Carlisle High School where he was quarterback of the Musketeer football team for 4 years, a U.S. Army veteran and was longtime co-owner and manager of Carlisle Drug Co.G.C. was active in many civic organizations including Carlisle Jaycees the Nicholas Co. Lions Club, American Legion Post 17 and was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church.Other survivors include a son Barry Myers, Carlisle, a daughter Ginger (Rob) Shearer, Carlisle, 3 grandchildren, Ashley (Jerome) Williams, & Logan & Patrick Fryman and 2 great grandsons Kane Holbrook and Michael Hammonds.He was preceded in death by his father George Christian Myers, Sr. his mother Lula Honican Myers Bradshaw and his step-father J.E. "Doc" Bradshaw.Services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. from the Carlisle United Methodist Church by Rev. James Doughton, Rev. Rocky Wallace and Rev. James Gaunce. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Thursday at the church.Memorial contributions are suggested to Carlisle United Methodist Church.
