Gladys Gates, 86, widow of Eugene Daniel Gates, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.

She was born May 13, 1921 in Harlan Co. to the late George & Mary Jones Johnson, and was a member of Wesley Chapel CME Church.

Survivors include 6 sons, Eddie (Geraldine) Gates, Cynthiana, Douglas (Lois) Gates, Carlisle, Jimmie (Pat) Gates, Salt Lick, David (Annie) Gates, Carlisle, Billy Joe (Tirah) Gates, Falmouth & Rickie (Linda) Gates, Fleming Co., a daughter, Georgia (Billy) Gilvin, Carlisle, 3 brothers, Randy Johnson, Kettering, Ohio, Sam Johnson, Ypsilanti, Michigan & Henry Johnson, South Carolina, 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daugther Melanie Rachael Gates and a great-grandson Bradley Gates.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Wesley Chapel CME Church by Rev. Darrell Rollins. Burial will follow in Longview Cemetery at Bethel.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mathers-Gaunce F.H. and after Noon Thursday at the church.
