Elizabeth Imogene Smoot Burke, 84, wife of the late Raymond Burke, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015 at her home.

Born March 26, 1931 in Nicholas County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert C. & Bernice Jacobs Smoot. Imogene was a devoted mother & grandmother who enjoyed reading and working in her puzzle books and was a dedicated member of the Barterville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son: Raymond Allen (Bonnie) Burke, of Carlisle; 6 daughters: Wanda (Jim) Eades, of Lexington, Libby (Raymond) Willoughby, Becky (Mack) Evans, Gail (Timmy) Jefferson, Bonnie Burke and Judy Burke, all of Carlisle; 3 brothers: Jimmy (Minnie) Smoot & Bobby Smoot, of Carlisle, and Wayne Smoot, of Lexington; 2 sisters: Brenda Robinson, of Carlisle, and Beatrice (Elmer) Davis, of Lexington; 6 grandchildren: Nathan & Jimmy Eades, Josh & Shawn Evans, and Morgan & Kayla Jefferson; and 2 great-grandchildren: Brayden & Emily Evans.

Also preceding her in death were a brother, Herbert C. Smoot, Jr., and 2 sisters, Mary Alice Bowles and Kathleen Smoot.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Bro. Jim Rawlings. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Monday.
