Jeanie Ramey Smoot, 77, of Carlisle, wife of Herbert C. Smoot, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Nicholas County Hospital.

She was born August 30, 1932, in Nicholas County to the late Amos Lee & Maggie Pauline Gilvin Booth, was a retired farmer, an avid walker and member of the Mountain Assembly Church.

She is also survived by 2 sons, Warner (Debbie) Ramey, Jr. and Jackie (Patricia) Ramey, both of Carlisle, 4 daughters, Rosemary (Eric) Hancock, Evansville, IN, Betty Sapp (Stanley Buckler), Cynthiana, Carol (Ira) Howard & Brenda (Joe) Ross, Carlisle, 2 brothers, Raymond Lee Booth, Millersburg, and Billy Truman Booth, Lexington, 2 sisters, Mary Ella Booth, Lexington, and Geneva Jolly, Carlisle, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Warner Ramey, Sr., a son, Jerry Wayne Ramey, a daughter, Doris Ann Ramey, 2 brothers, Roy Allen & Leonard Clay Booth, and 2 sisters, Betty Sue & Priscilla Booth.

Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Darrell Sexton & Bro. Bobby Stone. Burial will follow in the Millersburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
