Obituary

Jorita H. Anderson,76, wife of John R. Anderson for 57 years, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 after a courageous two year battle with ovarian cancer.

Born in Bourbon County September 27, 1936 to the late  Emery and Ruby Green Hollar, Jorita graduated from Carlisle High School with the class of 1954. She was a member of the Carlisle Christian Church for 57 years, a member of the Broadcasters Sunday School Class, and was Superintendent of the Sunday School Department from 2001 to 2013.  Jorita served as Secretary of the Carlisle Christian Church for 15 years. She retired as Librarian of the Nicholas County Public Library after 20 years. She founded the Johnson Mathers Health Care Activity Fund in 1996 in memory of her mother, Ruby Hollar Campbell, who was a patient there for 19 years. Jorita was one of the founding members of the Nicholas County Democratic Women's Club, a former member of the Kentucky Library Association, Twilight Council and Lexington Woman's Club.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by one son, Michael J. (Mary Lou) Anderson of Lexington, and two grandsons: John Patrick (Jeanne) Anderson of Stafford, VA and Nicholas Scott Anderson of Lexington; her sister-in-law, Jane Milam of Paris, and three nephews:  John Milam of Lexington, Jim Milam of Paris and Bob (Sonya) Milam of Warner Robbins, GA, and by a dear friend, Judy Judge of Carlisle.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith with burial following in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carlisle Christian Church Building Fund are suggested.
