Marietta "Marty" Hardin Gibson, 82, wife of Lewis Gibson for almost 58 years, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.

Born December 14, 1932 in Nicholas County to the late Hubbard Henry & Stella McLean Hardin, Marty was a 1951 graduate of Carlisle High School, a retired Hallmark employee and Charter Member of the Gardenside Christian Church, where she was Treasurer of her Bible School Class. She enjoyed bowling in the Tuesday Trotters Bowling league for many years and loved to garden and raise flowers. Her favorite color was purple... flowers, clothing, everything, they just needed to be purple. She greatly enjoyed southern gospel music, especially quartets. Always active, Marty was involved in her sons' endeavors through their school years, serving as President of the Lafayette High School Band Association. She was highly looking forward to her granddaughter Kristin's marriage to Sean Rosenberg on August 8 ^th , her absence will be keenly felt by all.

Marty is also survived by 2 sons: Chris (Mandy) Gibson and Jeff (Sharon) Gibson, and a granddaughter, Kristin Gibson. She will be sorely missed by her huge German Shepherd, Storm.

She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, David & Sanford Hardin, and a sister Janice Washington.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Gardenside Christian Church by Minister Bobby Cairell. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of service.
