Philip Carson Sansom ,74, husband of Beverly Mann Sansom, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at home.

He was born September 29, 1937 and truly lived every minute of his life. He was a hard worker from an early age and enjoyed a rich career of varied experiences. He worked for Union Carbide, the Kentucky State Police, Dayton-Walther and was semi-retired from SBT. Even when not working, he kept himself busy with many personal projects. He learned to fly, built a houseboat from the ground up, mastered r/c airplanes, taught himself gunsmithery, loved fly fishing trips with his son, and was a self-taught expert on many subjects. His favorite quote was 'if you can read, you can do anything.' And he lived that quote. The only thing he loved more than learning and trying new things was his family. He was quick with hugs, kisses and 'I love yous' and he always made everyone feel special and loved.

He is survived by a deeply saddened family that will forever miss his presence. In addition to the love of his life, Beverly, he is survived by 2 sons: Philip N. (Karen) of Bowling Green, David (Anna) of Charleston, WV; 2 daughters: Alisa Anderson of Valrico, FL and Stephanie (Charles) French of Largo, FL; 6 granddaughters: Melissa Sansom and Rachel Sansom of Charleston, WV, Danielle French and Jillian French of Clearwater, FL and Emily (Seth) Ruby and Megan Sansom of Bowling Green; 2 grandsons: Jordan and Jacob Smith; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Nolan G. and Ethel Sansom, a sister, Alice Mae and a brother, Jimmy.

Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until the time of services.
