Roberta Ritchie Murrell, 92, widow of Ed Murrell, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.

Born in Nicholas County on April 24, 1922 to the late Memphis & Effie Snapp Ritchie, she was a seamstress for many years at Hansley Mills, Giffin Manufacturing and Jockey International, was a former employee of the Nicholas County Senior Citizens Center, and a member of Oakland Mills United Methodist Church. A loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Roberta dedicated the majority of her time to her family.

Surviving her are 2 sons: Delmus (Kathy) Murrell and James Allen (Sharon) Murrell, both of Carlisle; a devoted sister: Leota Fryman, of Bourbon County; a brother: Clestus (Juanita) Ritchie, of Carlisle; 3 grandchildren: Bradley Murrell, Susan (Dennis) Rodgers and Kevin (Debbie) Murrell; 4 great-grandchildren: Brandon (Alison) Murrell, Heather (Tre) Collins, Tyler (Kara) Rose and Keegan Rose; 2 great-great granddaughters, Campbell Ann Murrell & Madilynn Grace Collins; her long-time companion, Estill Gardner; and special friends, Rhonda Murrell and J. T., Jacob & Logan Fryman.

Also preceding her in death were 3 brothers, Donnie, Dovolee & Junius Ritchie, and a sister, Chlotene Steele.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Caswell officiating. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M.
