Sanford D. Hardin, passed away on his 89 ^th birthday, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the VA Medical Center-Cooper Drive.

Born in Nicholas Co. to the late Hubbard Henry & Stella McLean Hardin, he was a graduate of Carlisle High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS J H McRae. He received his Masters degree in Agriculture from the University of Kentucky and had worked as a farm manager & real estate broker and agent.

Survivors include his son, Mark Hardin, of Georgetown, a sister, Marietta (Lewis) Gibson, of Lexington and a special care-giver, Patti Heying.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Kirk Hardin, a brother, David Hardin and a sister, Janice Washington.

Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Chaplain Neal Myers with burial to follow in Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 12:00 Noon Saturday.
