Shirley Jean Johnson Morris, 65, wife of the late William Morris, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

Born in Nicholas County on June 1, 1949 to the late Butler & Julia Ann Holbrook Johnson, Shirley helped her husband farm for many years, was a dedicated volunteer for more than 20 years at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home and was also an Honorable Kentucky Colonel.

She is survived by 5 brothers: Jimmy (Brenda) Johnson & Ronnie (Linda) Johnson, of Lexington, Lloyd Johnson, of Nicholas County, David Johnson, of Millersburg, and Joseph (Mylinda) Johnson, of Florida; 3 sisters: Patty Sargent, of Winchester, Judy Dale, of Walton, and Alice Gilvin, of Carlisle, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death is a brother Everett Johnson.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith with burial to follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 12:00 Noon on Thursday until the time of services.
