Sue Payne Lester, 72, wife of Cartmell Lester, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Select Specialty Care in Lexington, KY.

She was born May 19, 1937 in Fleming Co. to the late Arnold & Betty Ritchie Payne, was a retired employee of Jockey International, former co-owner of Lester's Family Store's in Carlisle, Owingsville and Flemingsburg, a member of the Nicholas Co. Lions Club, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Carlisle Christian Church.

Other survivors include 2 daughters, Debbie (Barry) Ruark, Carlisle, and Pam (Terry) Earehart, Tollesboro, 2 brothers, Roy (Belle) Payne, Flemingsburg, and A.D. (Doris) Payne, Carlisle, 5 grandchildren, Christy Dickerson, Emilee Boyle, Jeff Hay, James Hay & Rebecca Collier, and 9 great-grandchildren, Brandon Wilson, Lucy & Texie Saunders, Abby, Anna & Ava Boyle, Madeline & Emma Dickerson and Simon Hay.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeff Lester, and a sister, Wanda Leet.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Ewing.

Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the church.
