Virginia Ann "Ginger" Riggs, 77, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Born August 22, 1936 in Pike Co. Ky. to the late John & Maysie Runyon Kane, she was a 1955 graduate of Belfrey High School. Following graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for Eastern Coal Co. and was a lifelong member of the Stone Chapter O.E.S. in Stone, Ky.

Upon moving to Carlisle in 1962, Ginger was active in the community as a member of the First Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as secretary and treasurer for many years, a kindergarten teacher at the Nicholas Co. Public Library with "Miss Dottie" and also as a member of the Carlisle Community Womans Club. She worked in the banking industry for many years, was a former co-owner of Crown Financial in Paris, and served as office manager for her husband's dental practice.

Survivors include her husband and best friend of 55 years, Dr. Leon Riggs, 2 brothers, John Robert (Patty) Kane & Kenneth Edward (Sue) Kane of Clarksville, Indiana, a sister-in-law, Judy Kane, Clarksville, Indiana, a brother-in-law, Bob Akers, Fredericksburg, Virginia, several nieces & nephews and a very, very special and dear friend Dr. Pam Sparks Stein.

Also preceding her in death were a sister, Margaret Kane Akers, and a brother, James Rodney Kane.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Mathers-Gaunce F. H. by Rev. Steve Smith & Rev. Carey McGuire. Committal services will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Mountain View Memory Gardens in Huddy, KY.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Monday.
