Warren Smith, 87, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 at his home.

He was born April 18, 1924 in Nicholas County to the late Everett D. & Sarepta Hostetler Smith, was a retired farmer and member of the Carlisle Christian Church, where he served as elder and choir member for many years. Warren was the first graduate of the University of Kentucky's Agricultural Engineering program and upon graduation he continued to work at the university conducting tobacco research.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Bonita Moss Smith, his son and daughter-in-law, Everett H. & Beth Smith and their sons, John & Raymond, his daughter, Mary Anne Smith and her children, Deidra, Chloe & Holton, all of Carlisle, and 3 sisters, Gladys Cook & Carol (Franklin) Caswell, of Carlisle, and Lida Crump, of Houston, Texas.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Idell Rondolino.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday July 26, 2011 at the Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith with burial to follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Monday at the church.
