James Wayne Milton, 63, husband of Kathy Johnson Milton, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

A native of Erlanger, Kentucky, Wayne was born June 11, 1952 to the late James Poague & Mary Jean Carrigan Milton. A man of varied interests, Wayne worked in several different arenas over the years, having been a youth counselor, a farm manager in the horse industry and most recently a school bus driver in the Nicholas County School system. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Living a life  that was never boring; from motocross to hunting, fishing and camping Wayne was a true adventurer and outdoorsman. He showed horses for many years and was the consummate horseman.

Wayne was a truly dedicated historian. For decades he participated in historic re-enactments covering many eras, from the Revolutionary War to the War of 1812 to the Civil War and everything in between. He also portrayed Daniel Boone in a living history to hundreds of children throughout the Commonwealth. His knowledge was a huge asset to many entities; he was featured in several visitor center films for both the state and national parks systems. He spent many years filming historic programs with The History Channel and was an actor in the feature film "The Patriot."

Along with his adoring wife, Kathy, left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Rebecca (Ryan) Peterman, of Carlisle; a son, Jeremy (Lexie) Hudkins, of Vernon, Alabama; a brother, Gary Dean (Sharon) Milton, of Florence; and 4 grandchildren: Jacob, Lucas & Ellaina Peterman and Logan Wayne Hudkins.

It was Wayne's wish to be cremated. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, January 9, 2015 at the Neal Welcome Center in Carlisle from 2:00P.M. to 5:00P.M.
