Wilma Elizabeth Gordon Hilander, 85, Archdeacon Avenue, Carlisle, widow of William H. Hilander, Sr., died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.

She was born March 17, 1923, in Madison County, Kentucky, daughter of the late William Gordon and Florrie Mink Gordon Coy.

Mrs. Hilander was a homemaker and restaurant owner and was a member of the Herrington United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Truman (Mary Alice) Hilander and Gerald Hilander of Paris; two daughters Linda (Freddy) Gillespie of Paris; Bonna Dupree of Carlisle; a sister, Isabelle Writt of Lexington; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, William H. "Pete" Hilander, Jr. and one brother, Johnny Matthews.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 9, at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home with the Rev. James Gaunce officiating. Burial will follow at the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Friday.
