Adalene "Micki" Paulin, 91, formerly of Carlisle, wife of the late Philip Edward Paulin, passed from this life to join our Heavenly Father on May 1, 2017 at the Grace Living Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Born January 31, 1926 in Carlisle, Kentucky to the late Catesby James and Gertrude (Waugh) Cartmill, Micki graduated from Carlisle High School and Ashland Business College attaining an accounting degree in 1944. She worked as an accountant for General Telephone of Kentucky and General Telephone of Ohio. Micki met the love of her life, Ed Paulin, in 1947 while working for a hotel chain in Ironton, OH. They married June 16, 1949, and began a long and happy life together for 58 years before Ed's passing in 2008. Micki and Ed moved to Stillwater in 1971 and she began working at Oklahoma State University for the School of Journalism and Broadcasting, retiring in 1988.
Micki served in presidential roles for several professional organizations. She served as President of the Jayceettes for seven years, President of Lahoma Newcomers at OSU in 1972 and President of her sorority Delta Theta Tau for three years. She was also a lifetime member of the Emeriti Association of OSU and served four years as a representative for the Silver Haired Legislature in Oklahoma.
Micki loved volunteering and being around people. She volunteered at Stillwater Medical Center and Project Heart. She also served on several pastoral committees and was a member of Sunnybrook Christian Church. She enjoyed family visits and inviting students into their home when the weather did not allow students to travel home. Some of Micki's favorite memories were of all the wonderful trips she took with Ed as they enjoyed traveling together. Micki loved playing cards with her sister Gladys when she would come to visit and with all her friends from church.
Survivors include her sister, Gladys Gifford, of Carlisle, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers: John William, J. C., Morrow and Roy Cartmill, and two sisters, Dorothy Gill and Opal Sexton Hamilton.
Services will be held Noon Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Carlisle by Rev. Kevin Thomas and Rev. Steve Smith. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Friday at the church.
