Angela Raye Mitchell, the life of the party, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, October 14th, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 12th, 1964, in Carlisle, Kentucky, to Ollie and Mildred Mitchell.
Better known as Angie, she was a lifelong resident of Carlisle and truly never met a stranger. She was a dedicated teacher at Nicholas County Elementary School, where she taught 3rd grade and served as the librarian. Angie was a hard worker—at one point working a full-time job, being enrolled in two colleges full time, and taking care of her family. She never missed a beat and did everything with class.
Angie was known for her bright personality and caring heart. Her smile could light up any room, and her laugh was contagious. She loved traveling, especially to the beach. But above all, she loved her family and friends. She spearheaded many shopping trips and gatherings, and though she could be a tad bit bossy, she was known for getting things done.
Surviving her are her devoted companion, Mark Wade; her beloved daughter, Shelby Wade (Jake) Kirby; her caring mother, Mildred Miller Mitchell; and her brother, Lonnie (Shelly) Mitchell, who always kept her laughing. She’s also lovingly remembered by her three sisters — Deliana Adams, Mary (Clevie) Livingood, and Carol (Chad) Becraft — a trio who shared countless stories, inside jokes, and memories together.
Her joy lives on through her four cherished grandchildren, who lovingly called her Nana: Stella Jo and Ray Thomas Kirby, and Braydan Allen and Aydan Todd Wade, who filled her days with light, laughter, and love.
She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart, as well as a wide circle of dear friends who will forever remember her warmth, humor, and the way she could light up a room.
Angie was joyfully welcomed in Heaven by her loving father, Ollie Ray Mitchell, and her dear son, James Allen “Jamey” Wade, who surely greeted her with open arms and warm smiles.
Please join us in celebrating her life at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20th, at the Carlisle Christian Church, officiated by Reverend Steve Smith. Burial will follow at the Carlisle Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19th, at the Carlisle Christian Church.
