Ashton Ray Markland, 29, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016.
A native of Nicholas County, Ashton was born January 3, 1987, was a 2005 graduate of Nicholas County High School, a 2012 graduate of Bluegrass Community and Technical College, an LPN at Pine Meadows Nursing Home, having also worked at Shriners Hospitals for Children, Bluegrass Nursing Home, Nurses Registry and Dover Manor Nursing Home, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carlisle. She will always be remembered as a loving friend to many.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter, Zoey Jenkins, her father: Thrashley (Rhonda) Markland, Jr.; her mother, Jacqueline Clinkenbeard (Doug) Garrett, all of Carlisle; 2 brothers: Holdan Thomas Markland, of Covington, and Lance Sandoval, of Brooklyn, New York; maternal grandparents: Jack & Patricia Clinkenbeard, of Lexington, and Connie Clinkenbeard, of Carlisle; paternal grandparents: Thrashley & Betty Markland, Sr.; 2 aunts: Connie (Jeff) Hinton, of Carlisle, and Connitha (Terisa Blanchette) Tyrer, of Alvin, Texas; an uncle, Jeff Tyrer, of Carlisle; cousins: Andrea (Brad) Bussell and their son, Presley Neal Bussell, Weston Hinton and Blake Tyrer; 2 special friends, Aaron Pope and Joseph Smith, and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandmothers, Alma Clinkenbeard, Nancy Markland, Opal Sexton and Virginia McKenzie Sosby, a step-brother, Billy Joe Garrett, a step-grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Garrett, and a very dear friend, Dustin Clark.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith and Rev. Kevin Thomas. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Friday at the church.
