Bessie Applegate Mann, 91, wife of the late Harold M. Mann, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.
Born December 5, 1925 in Lewis County to the late David & Beatrice Saunders Applegate, she was a 1945 graduate of Tollesboro High School, an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She greatly enjoyed tending her garden, cooking and working word puzzles.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Patsy (B.J.) Hawkins and Janice (Steve) Biddle, both of Paris, and Shirley Roe, of Margate, Florida; 2 sons: Paul (Kay) Mann and Jerry (Brenda) Mann, both of Carlisle; 2 sisters-in-law: Doris Riggs and Antonietta Applegate; 1 brother-in-law: Don Mann; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and a special friend & neighbor, Julie Bussell.
Also preceding her in death were a daughter- Glenda Yazell, a sister- Christine Pugh, 4 brothers- Cecil, Eugene, Andy & Harry Lee Applegate, 3 grandchildren- Shane Van Deren, Todd Roe and Lyndsay Mann, and her son-in-law, Jimmy Roe.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 27, 2017 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Bro. Jim Caswell. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.
