William Wayne “Bill” Flora, 76, of Cynthiana, husband of 58 years to Carolyn Sue “Susie” Sorrell Flora, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Born October 29, 1946 in Nicholas County to the late William George & Edna Elliott Flora, he worked 33 years for CSX Railroad and was a member of St. Andrew’s Lodge F. & A.M. #18. Bill loved camping and all things train, from collecting models to train-watching to visiting his former CSX co-workers. He thoroughly enjoyed spending lots of time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include a son, Darrell “Bugs” Flora, of Cynthiana; 2 brothers, Allen Lane (Cheryl) Flora, of Carlisle, and Marty Lee (Debbie) Flora, of Robertson County; a sister, Charmaine (Kent) Cable, of Sebring, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Marylynn Flora, of Carlisle; 2 granddaughters, Chaya Kathryn (Bryan) Hopkins and Chenoa Dawn Flora; 4 great-grandchildren: Joedan Thomas Wayne Hopkins, Jasper Allen Hopkins, Aris Alexander Kearns and Patience LeighAnn Kearns; several nieces & nephews; and his beloved dog, Zuse.
Also preceding him in death were 2 children, Misty Marie & Daniel Allen Flora, a brother, Larry Woodford Flora, and his faithful companion, Whisper.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 27th at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Pastor Ruby Perraut with burial to follow in Carlisle Cemetery. Masonic rites will be held immediately prior to the funeral.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services.
