Billy Kelley Obituary

Billy Dean Kelley, 64, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

Born June 10, 1958, the youngest child of Christine Sapp Kelley, he lived in and around Nicholas County until he met his wife Melody at the Blackberry Festival on the 4th of July, 1978. They lived in Lexington for 20 years where he began a masonry business and owned rental property. In 2000, Billy and his family opened Market Street Discount in Carlisle to retire from construction work and because he wanted to give something back to the community. In 2011 he received a life-saving kidney transplant, which gave him more years with his family and grandchildren. What he enjoyed most in life were his grandchildren and pets.

Billy will be remembered by his wife of 44 years, Melody Kelley; daughter Amanda Corbin (Sean); son Billy Dean Kelley Jr. (Brittany); grandchildren Abygail Kelley, Brighton Corbin, Willow Kelley, and Miles Corbin; brother Eugene Kelley; sister Wanda Tincher; and chosen son Paul Hughes.

Private family services will be held at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home with burial to follow in the family cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Mercy Anderson Hospital for their care and compassion, as well as the staff at UK Transplant Clinic, Gill Heart Institute, Davita Dialysis, and the Licking Valley CAP drivers for the care they provided over the years.
