Ewell Roberts “Bud” Lyons, Sr., 90, husband of Nancye Reid Lyons, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Grand Haven Nursing Home in Cynthiana.
Born August 14, 1933 in Bath County to the late Sorency S., Sr. & Eliza Bailey Lyons, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korea Conflict and member of Carlisle Presbyterian Church. Bud loved being a lifelong farmer and had also worked for Elgin-Church, Jockey International, Nicholas County Road Department, State Road Department, Crockett’s IGA/Save-a-Lot and Crawford Builders over the years. He enjoyed mowing and camping with his family.
Additional survivors include: 4 grandchildren: Seth Haney, Ross Haney, Katie (Owen) Hinton & Nathan (Sydney) Rainey; a great-grandson, Greer Hinton; 2 brothers, Ralph Lyons & Kenneth (Verndalene) Lyons; 4 sisters: Nancy (Buddy) Mattox, Martha (Eugene) Sibert, Jane (David) Daniels & Judy (Andy) York; and several nieces & nephews.
Also preceding him in death were his son, Ewell “Robbie” Lyons, Jr.; 2 daughters and their husbands, Marsha (Mike) Haney & Kathy Rainey (John Moore); and 4 brothers: Sorency Lyons, Jr., Billy Lyons, Eugene Lyons & Frank Lyons.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 7th at Carlisle Presbyterian Church by Rev. Laura Barkley.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church.
