Carolyn Rose (Billings) Petitt

Carolyn Rose Smart Petitt, 82, wife of Robert “Bob” Petitt, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at her home in Carlisle.

Born April 28, 1943 in Nicholas County to the late Jesse & Ralma Mitcheltree Billings, she was a longtime employee of Jockey International and member of New Beginnings Church. She loved attending church, listening to gospel music, studying her bible and watching “Gunsmoke.”

Additional survivors include 3 children: Donnie (Kristie) Smart, Carol “Kathy” Petitt & Tracey (John) Jones; Jesse Robinson, who was like a son to her; 9 grandchildren: Ashli Craddock, Kayla Berry (Josh Abnee), Jamie Berry (Sam Durham), Josh Wade, Justin (Kayla) Petitt, Erin (Chris) Best, Kyleigh (Adam) Webb, Ella Robinson & Harper Robinson; and 10 great-grandchildren: Tylen & Abel Rawlings, Kason, Sidney & Eli Sexton, Ella Petitt, Jase, Alivia, & Brelynn Best & Taryn Brooks. 

Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Donnita Berry; 3 brothers: Leroy, Danny Dale & Alvin Lee Puckett; and 2 sisters, Patsy Ann Gilvin Crouch & Celia Sexton. 

Services will be 5:00 P.M. Sunday, December 28th at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home officiated by her son, Donnie Smart, with visitation beginning at 3:00 P.M.
