Charles K. "Mickey" Hamilton, 96, husband of the late Wanda Duncan Hamilton, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his home.
Born November 28, 1920 in Bourbon County to the late Frank & Katherine Prather Hamilton, he was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division, Company K-Red Bulls during the Italian Campaign and earned both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. A longtime resident of the Jackstown community, Charles worked many years as a plumber and electrician. He also worked in maintenance at Bourbon County Hospital and as a lifelong farmer. He was member of the Carlisle Christian Church, a Charter Member of the Central Kentucky Steam & Gas Engine Association, a member of American Legion-Post 17 and VFW 8666-Lloyd George Post. Mickey enjoyed hunting deer, turkey and dove.
Survivors include 2 sons: Mike (Judy) Hamilton, of Pineville, and Gary Hamilton, of Carlisle; a daughter, Lona (Jimmy) Sadler, of Carlisle; a brother, Glenn (Carolyn) Hamilton, and sister, Katie (Bobby) Mattox, both of Bourbon County; 6 grandchildren: John Michael Hamilton, Seth (Shelley) Sadler, Brendan (Caitlin) Sadler, Caleb (Morgan) Sadler, Sara & Sam Hamilton and 2 great-grandsons, Gabriel & Brantley Sadler.
Also preceding him in death was a brother William F. Hamilton.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church.
