Charles Brown “Jackie” Myers, 82, of Moorefield, husband of 57 years to Dorothy Shrout Myers, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.
Born August 14, 1939 in Nicholas County to the late Gilby & Lillian McCall Myers, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served 4 years at Camp Pendleton in California; was a talented carpenter, having built many homes in the area over the years; a member of American Legion David Rankin Post #257; a member of Dougherty Lodge #65 and a member of Parish Chapel Methodist Church. Jackie could do anything he put his mind to and loved hunting, fishing & woodworking– his specialty being jewelry boxes. He greatly enjoyed “tormenting” his family and friends, who all knew his picking was a sign of his love for them.
Additional survivors include his son, Greg Myers, of Moorefield; a sister, Kathy Green, of Mt. Sterling; and lots of nieces & nephews.
Also preceding him in death were 4 brothers: Floyd “Jay” Humphries, Jimmy Myers, Elmo Myers and Woodie Allison, and a sister, Geneva Barnett.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Greg Grimes. Burial with military honors will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday.
