Cordelia Gilley Smith, 81, wife of the late Donald Ray Smith for 59 years, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
Born August 28, 1939 in Nicholas County to the late William F. & Glennie Fisher Gilley, she was a 1957 graduate of Carlisle High School and cosmetology school in 1958. Cordelia was a longtime cook for the Nicholas County Schools and North Central 4H Camp, serving as head cook and manager for several years, and a lifelong member of Carlisle Christian Church.
Surviving are 4 children: James (Pam) Smith, of Toronto, Tony (Stephanie) Smith, Glenn Smith & Suzann Smith, all of Carlisle; her beloved grandchildren: Adam, Eric, Lucas & Kayleigh-Ann Smith; her brother, Bill (Barbara) Gilley; brother-in-law, Bobby Hatton; and special friends: Elaine Hardwick, Doris Cannon, Wanda & Wayne Berry, Lois Terrell and Eddie & Connie Zornes, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also preceding her in death were a sister, Mary Logan Hatton; 2 grandsons, Patrick & Sawyer Smith; her brother-in-law & sisters-in-law: Edward & Janice Smith and Patty Hatton; and special friend, William Cannon.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Carlisle Cemetery Chapel by Rev. Steve Smith. Live-streaming will be available on the Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home Facebook page.
