Donald Ray Smith, 80, husband of Cordelia Gilley Smith, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017.
Born Oct. 23, 1936 in Harrison Co. to the late Henry & Hallie Platt Smith, he was a 1955 graduate of Harrison Co. High School and a graduate of the Nashville Diesel College. Don was a longtime truck driver having been a bus driver for the Nicholas Co. Schools and a contract carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 25 years, and was also a longtime stained glass maker.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, survivors include 4 children, James (Pam) Smith, of Toronto, Tony (Stephanie) Smith, Glenn (Debby) Smith & Suzann Smith of Carlisle, his beloved grandchildren, Adam, Eric, Lucas, Kayleigh-Ann and Kadee Smith, In-Laws, Bill & Barbara Gilley and Bobby Hatton, special friends, Billy Mac & Dorothy Gaunce, Bill & Doris Cannon, Lois Terrell and Eddie & Connie Zornes along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also preceding him in death were 2 grandsons, Patrick & Sawyer Smith, his brother and sister in law, Edward & Janice Smith and 2 other sister-in-laws, Mary Logan Hatton & Patty Hatton.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 24 at Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the church.
