Donnita Jean (Smart) Berry

Donnita Jean Smart Berry, 62, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at her home in Carlisle.

Born September 21, 1961 in Nicholas County, she was a 1979 graduate of Nicholas County High School, a former employee of Jockey International and a member of Oddville Christian Church. Donnita loved attending church and listening to gospel music. She had a heart of gold and would do anything she could to help someone in need. She also enjoyed reading, collecting Christmas decorations, arranging flowers and being on her phone. 

Surviving are 2 daughters, Kayla Berry (Josh Abnee) & Jamie Berry (Sam Durham); her mother & stepfather, Carolyn Rose & Bobby Petitt; a brother, Donnie (Kristie) Smart; 2 sisters, Kathy Petitt & Tracey (John) Jones; and 2 grandsons, Tylen & Abel Rawlings.

She was preceded in death by her father & stepmother, Harold Don & Mary Lee Smart. 

Services will be 5:00 P.M. Sunday, April 21st at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home officiated by her brother, Donnie Smart. 

Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. Sunday until the time of service.
