Dorothy Bussell Gaunce, 88, wife of Billy Mac Gaunce, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Bourbon Community Hospital in Paris. 

Born September 1, 1935 in Nicholas County to the late Allen & Myrtle Belle Farris Bussell, she was a former employee of International Spike and a member of Carlisle Christian Church and Mountain Assembly Church. Dorothy loved reading magazines & catalogs, shopping, McDonald’s tea and taking rides. 

Additional survivors include 2 sons, Philip (Darlene) Hunt & Michael Hunt; 2 daughters, Bonnie Tackett & Debbie Hunt; a brother, Kenneth Bussell; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and 2 special friends, Cathy Ratliff & Katie Brewer, along with a host of nieces & nephews. 

Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers, Doug & Chester “Bud” Bussell, and 4 sisters: Nancy Smoot, Madeline Bussell, Helen Vaughn & Delores Green.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 1st by Rev. Darrell Marshall at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home with burial to follow in Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of service.
