Dorsey Lynn Watkins, 89, husband of Sally Watkins, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Bourbon Heights in Paris.
Born April 5, 1933 in Nicholas County to the late Dorsey Thomas & Grace Gaunce Watkins, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a retired manager at IBM– where he worked for 33 years, a member of American Legion Post 17, Lloyd George VFW Post 8666 and the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Dorsey Lynn gave tirelessly to his community through his work on behalf of several organizations by serving on the Nicholas County Hospital Board and the Nicholas County Democratic Executive Committee, as well as being Chairman of the Nicholas County Fair Board and Co-Chair of Carlisle-Nicholas County Tourism, Inc.
In addition to his wife, Sally, he leaves to cherish his memory 2 daughters: Paula (Jimmy) Brown and Jenifer (Wayne) Orschein; Sally’s son, Todd (Georganna) Gaunce; a brother, Gerald Watkins; 3 grandchildren: Seth (Julie) Brown, Cassie Brown and Chandler Gaunce; and 3 great-grandchildren: Neal, Thomas & Grace Brown.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, Adrian Thomas Watkins, and a sister, Ruby Watkins Ebert.
Services will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, September 7th at the Carlisle United Methodist Church by Rev. Steve Smith and Rev. Laura Barkley. Burial with military honors will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of service.
