Frederick E. “Fred” Clark, 84, formerly of Nicholas County, husband of 57 years to Jean Downes Clark, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at his home in Monroe, Ohio.
Born June 21, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the only child of the late Ernest & Hildegard Carpus Clark, a U.S. Navy veteran, a retired computer programmer for the Internal Revenue Service and a former employee of Mark Mattox Real Estate & Auctions. A prolific reader sometimes completing a book or two a day, he liked reading WWII history and detective novels. Fred & Jean absolutely loved to travel and visited 33 countries over the years. He also enjoyed doing genealogy, and even traced Jean’s family back 400 years.
Surviving are 4 sons: Robert Clark of Hamilton, Ohio, Kevin (Kristie) Clark of Centerville, Ohio, Patrick (Jennifer) Clark of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dan (Kelly) Clark of Monroe, Ohio; and 5 grandchildren: Cameron, Gabe, Hannah, Logan & M.J. Clark.
In accordance with his wishes, Fred will be cremated. Private services will be held by the family.
