Gary Reed Obituary

Gary Granville Reed, 71, husband of the late Patsy Puckett Reed, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Lexington VA Medical Center-Leestown.

Born February 12, 1946 in Bourbon County to the late Ernest & Cora Francis Herrington Reed, he was a decorated U.S. Army veteran, having earned 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star during Vietnam. Gary worked for many years as a salesman for Spivey’s Sporting Goods, Sports Specialist and Kentucky Freightliner; he was also a former Bailiff at the Nicholas County Courthouse and currently acted as Nicholas County Deputy Jailer. An avid outdoorsman, he greatly enjoyed camping & fishing, spent many years as Scout Master and loved riding his motorcycle. He was also a member and Past Master of Amity Lodge #40 in Millersburg.

Left to cherish his memory are 2 sons: Robert & Annie Reed, and their children, Ashlyn & Wyatt, of Corinth, and Gary Reed, of Lexington; a step-son, Kyle & Tantra Curtsinger, and their children, Demarcus & Kyah, of Lexington; a brother, Jeff (Suzanne) Reed, and sister, Donna (Gayle) Kelley, both of Carlisle; a niece, Gayla Jones and 3 nephews, Stephen Kelley and Cody & Caleb Reed.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-North in Williamstown by Pastor Terry Leap.

Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home with Masonic Rites at 7:00 P.M.
