George Allen Watkins

George Allen Watkins, 79, husband of nearly 59 years to Brenda Wagoner Watkins, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at his home. 

Born June 5, 1944 in Mason County to the late Everett Ellis & Cora Ellington Watkins, he was a 1962 graduate of Nicholas County High School, a Vietnam veteran of the US Air Force, a former employee of Rockwell, Jockey International and Koorsen Fire & Security, a member of Blue Licks Lodge F. & A.M. #495, American Legion Post #257 and Blue Licks Christian Church. George loved collecting tools and tractors– his favorite being called “Buddy”, working outside and listening to gospel music. He also enjoyed farming, raising tobacco, hay and cattle. 

Additional survivors include 2 sons: Greg (Laura) Watkins, of Morehead, and Jason Andrew (Brandie) Watkins, of Georgetown; a sister, Marylene (Johnnie) Fryman, of Morehead; and 4 grandchildren: Zack (Shelby) Watkins, Caroline Watkins, Arabella Watkins & Maxwell Watkins. 

Also preceding him in death was a brother, Charles K. Watkins. 

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 22nd at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home officiated by his nephew, Tommy Wagoner. Burial with military honors will follow in Carlisle Cemetery. 

Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. Wednesday with a Masonic Rites Service at 7:00 P.M.
