Gladys H. Duncan, 93, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Cedar Ridge Health Campus in Cynthiana.
Born November 18, 1922 in Nicholas County to the late Everett & Callie Marilla Myers Hill, she was the former head teller for the First National Bank of Carlisle, a florist assistant at both Small’s Greenhouse and Horn’s Florist, former President of the Carlisle Community Woman’s Club and a Grand Worthy Matron of the Marie Chapter O.E.S. Gladys dedicated a large part of her life to the Carlisle United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher, an active participant in the Kitchen Ministry and was proud to be the oldest member of the congregation.
Left to cherish her memory are a daughter: Susie (Don) Peterson, of Carlisle; 4 grandchildren: Margaret Ellen Tobin, Jody Duncan, Millie (Terry) Jolly and Lana Whirles; 7 great-grandchildren: Duncan (Amy) Tobin, Jonathan (Stellana) Tobin, Hannah, Jacob, Samuel & Sarah Jolly and Addyson Jones; 2 great-great grandchildren, Maddy Tobin & Judd Tobin and her daughter-in-law, Janie McGee.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Bobby Duncan; a sister, Mary Cord, and 2 brothers, Billy & Chester Hill.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church by Revs. Rocky & Denise Wallace and Rev. James Doughton. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church.
