Herma Ruth Hamilton McCollum, 90, wife of the late Kenneth Dean McCollum, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Harrodsburg Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born January 29, 1931 in Nicholas County to the late Herman & Nora Shrout Hamilton, she was a graduate of Carlisle High School and Crump Commerce College. Prior to retirement, Herma worked for Burchfield & Thomas Construction, was a charter member of both Women in Construction and the Sweet Adelines Women’s Barbershop Chorus and was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Michelle (Jimmy) Stevens, of Harrodsburg, and Cynthia Rowe, of Napa, California; 3 grandchildren: Jennifer (George) Herring, Jessica (Chad) Worthington and Mason McCollum; a nephew, Ken Hamilton; 5 great-grandchildren: Madison Brooke & Logan Blake Herring and Emily Reid, Noah Lane & Kendall Ray Worthington; and 3 special friends, Rick Alexander, Joy Kelley and Betty Anders.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Michael Dean McCollum, a son-in-law, Jim Rowe, and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert K. & Doris Hamilton.
Private family services will be held at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home, Carlisle, Kentucky, with burial to follow at Carlisle Cemetery.
