James Russell "Bud" Bellamy, Jr., 93, husband of the late Virginia Anderson Bellamy, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home.
A longtime resident of Nicholas County, he was born May 6, 1924 in Hammond, Indiana to the late James Russell, Sr. & Marian Clay Stone Bellamy, was a graduate of Headquarters High School, a lifelong farmer, who also worked for 20 years as a foreman with the American Tobacco Co. and later at Jockey International and a member of the Blue Licks Christian Church. Bud was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 4th Infantry Division, 20th Field Artillery Battalion and earning the EAME Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Carol Agee, of Carlisle, and Dr. Judy (Michael) Bullington, of Nashville, Tennessee; a brother, Stanley (Lita) Bellamy, of Gulf Breeze, Florida; a sister, Helen Ruth Gaunce, of Willisburg; 2 grandsons, Chris Lane Agee and Michael Allen Agee; 4 great-grandchildren: Jennifer Rogers, Stephanie Agee, Kathy Jolly and Kevin Agee; a step-great-granddaughter, Rebecca Ethridge; 14 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great granddaughter; as well as 9 nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death was a sister, Elizabeth Pearl Farris, and a step-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Willoughby.
Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Chaplain Rick Snyder. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Thursday.
