James William Coy

James William Coy, 74, husband of Christy Mercer Coy, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the VA Medical Center-Cooper Drive in Lexington.

Born December 3, 1946 in Nicholas County to the late Raymond & Sally Harney Coy, Jimmy was a United States Marine Corps veteran, a retired security guard for the University of Kentucky Medical Center, a former officer for the Carlisle Police Department, a farmer, a logger and an antique tractor collector.

Additional survivors include 5 children: Danny Coy, Sam (Krista) Coy, Amanda Coy (Gary Steinbach), Jason Coy and Raymond Coy; and a granddaughter, Sophia Christin Coy, and a step-grandson, Gabriel Richardson.

Also preceding him in death was a son, Billy Coy.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 3, 2021 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Thursday.
