Elizabeth Jane “Janie” Robinson Duncan McGee, 83, formerly of Carlisle, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Cedar Ridge Health Campus in Cynthiana.
Born July 19, 1941 in El Dorado, Arkansas to the late Osborne A. & Margaret Miles Robinson, Janie moved to Carlisle, Kentucky as a teenager and was a longtime member of Carlisle United Methodist Church. A graduate of Pinkerton High School in Midway, Kentucky, she went on to receive an Associate’s Degree from Midway Junior College. Janie had a diverse work life over the years having served as a loan clerk for Nicholas Loan Company, arranged flowers at Small’s Greenhouse, wore several hats at The Carlisle Mercury including reporter, photographer & typesetter, worked for many years as a Deputy Clerk in the Nicholas County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, and completed her career as a Domestic Violence Victim’s Advocate for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Surviving are 2 children, Margaret Ellen Tobin of Nicholas County and Jonathan H. (Mary) Duncan of Huntington, West Virginia; 2 grandsons, Duncan T. (Amy) Tobin and Jonathan M. (Stellana) Tobin, both of Nicholas County; 3 great-grandchildren: Judd, Maddy & Lincoln Tobin; 3 sisters-in-law: Judy Robinson, Betsy McGee & Susie (late Don) Peterson; 3 nephews: Dr. Matthew (Pam) Robinson, Mark Robinson & David (Jennifer) Robinson; and several special friends: Ginger & Everett Cord, Patty McClure, Kay Conley Anderson, Jock & Sue Conley and Sally Watkins.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, District Judge R. Wayne McGee, and her brother, Dr. Cyrus Miles Robinson.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 22nd at Carlisle United Methodist Church by Rev. Steve Smith and Rev. Kyle Burnette with burial to follow in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church
